28 Weeks-size of a chinese cabbage

Today is the first day of the third trimester! So exciting to know we get to meet Baby Flora in only 84 days or less!!!!!

She's now opening and closing her eyes, her little baby brain is growing bigger and she's now sleeping 20 to 30 minute intervals at a time. And she's a little over 15 inches! Have I mentioned she has dance parties in my tummy almost every night?!? ;)

Keyword this weekend is "pampered". It all started with B driving us out to Freestone, a super cute and quaint town in Sonoma County to the local bakery for some coffee and organic fresh baked bread. B's favorite-their sticky bun with raisins and walnuts, the size of my face, and mine a fougasse filled with olives, cheddar and garlic. Then we nipped out to Bodega Bay to take Newton on a quick 2 mile hike at Bodega Head trail. It was 80 degrees with a cool coastal breeze and not one cloud in the sky. We saw three grey whales and several elephant seals playing in the open ocean. It was a great way to spend the morning with my boys.

Next stop was Osmosis Day Spa Retreat across from the bakery for a Pre-natal massage and facial. And it was ah-maze-ing! I can't wait to go back with B and try out their cedar enzyme baths in their meditation garden. Maybe next time with a bottle (or two) of bubbly in tow ;)

We ended the evening watching the Giants game at a new spot in Corte Madera called Brick and Bottle. B FINALLY took advantage of me as his designated driver after a few beers and a newly discovered drink called "Sazarac"! It has Absinthe in it-enough said!

Tomorrow is my first baby shower thrown by my wonderful cousins and Monday my best friend Katy, also preggers, is cruising up for massages and mani/pedis! Also Monday morning, I'm interviewing midwives at Kaiser.

Recipe

Here's the original recipe I was given from a co-worker months ago. I've made a few modifications.

I also made gruyere grilled cheese sandwiches on gluten free bread with sliced heirloom tomatoes.

Curried Cream of Broccoli soup

. 1 Tb butter or margerine-I use earth balance vegan butter
. 1 large yellow onion, chopped
. 2 cloves garlic (chopped)-I use three!
. 3/4 tsp curry powder or more to taste
. freshly ground pepper
. 1 2/3 cups chicken broth-I always use veggie broth
. 1 cup water
. 1 bunch broccoli (1 pound) cut into flowerets, stems cut in slices
. 1 large potato, peeled and cubed- I always leave the skin on for added extra fiber.
. 1 cup milk (skim or low fat)-I always use almond milk
. In saucepan melt butter and saute onions and garlic for a few minutes
. Add curry, pepper, broth, and water to pan and bring the soup to boil
. Add broccoli and potato. When mixture boils, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until tender
. Puree the soup. Return soup to pan and add milk and cook over low heat until hot

Soup Season

Game 1 of the WORLD SERIES starts tonight and I plan on racing home from work, turning on the radio (we cut tv and internet over 2 months ago and it has been SUCH a blessing in disguise!!!), and whipping up a quick and easy soup recipe I got from a co-worker months ago.  Accompanying the soup will be Gruyere grilled cheese sandwiches-are you drooling yet?!!?. Recipe and pictures will be added later this evening.

For now, Happy Hump Day folks! I'm leaving you with some beautiful thoughts, quotes, and sweet images I've pinned on Pinterest to help get you through your day, a difficult time you might be having, or simply just to bring a smile to your face. We all have plenty to be thankful for. Let's not forget that :)

Two Years

Two years ago today we promised "to be true in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor all the days of my life." To Brian, my Husband, best friend and soon father of our child, we had no idea where the road was going to take us but I'm so damn proud of us with where it's gone and more in love with you each passing day. We've been blessed to share the joys, sorrows, challenges and LAUGHTER of these past two (9 total!) years together. I can't imagine my life without you. Here's to another 70+ more. And more babies too! ♥ ♥ ♥
