Must Have Products

Although I'm not at my half way mark of 20 weeks , I feel it's important to start early in your pregnancy with using body care products to help keep your skin plenty moisturized, especially through the warm Summer days and nights we've been having in Northern California. (With all the hormones changing things around, my skin is drier then ever!) I've read that sunburns are worse for pregnant woman because of how easily dehydrated we can get, therefore lathering up and staying hydrated is muy importante!

Here are a few products I use and things I do to help stay protected and cool during these Summer months:

  • Sugar Rose SPF 15 Tinted Lip Treatment-Leaves your lips so smooth and moisturized and leaves behind just a hint of color. (I'm trying to wear as little make-up as possible these days to give my skin a breath of fresh air-plus make-up in the heat is no bueno!)
  • Kiss My Face All Natural SPF 50 Spray  Not only do I support this company and almost all the products I use because of this reason, but the company is cruelty free and they don't test on animals-a BIG factor when I'm deciding to buy beauty/body products. This sunscreen spray is simple and easy to apply without getting your hands all greasy, leaves a light scent of cucumber (which I normally don't like!) and protects plenty on those HOT afternoons in the sun!
  • Dr Bonner's Organic Coconut Oil- I use  about a table spoon or so in my baths, in substitute of shaving cream and right when I get out of the shower I lather it EVERYWHERE!  It leaves my skin SO silky smooth and I smell so good you'd want to eat me! I promise! And a little goes a loooong way ;)
  • Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Stretch Oil- I'm in LOVE with this oil! Borage oil, grape seed oil, chamomile and sweet orange extract just to name a few of the yummy ingredients! I'll be using more E.M.A.B. products come Fall/Winter such as their teas which sound so cozy for those rainy nights!
  • Miessence Breast and Belly Balm- My gf just signed on to be a sales rep for this line. Straight from Aussie land, this line which consists of household products, beauty, skin and body care is completely organic and natural. The belly balm is light not oily when applied, has a hint of citrus scent and contains such ingredients as rosehip, mandarin, shea butter and jojoba oil.
  • Lastly, water with lemon! Before being pregnant I was always a WATER-acholic! I LOVE water, no need to turn to energy drinks or Gatorades, plain water does the trick for this girl! But because it's been SO DAMN hot and I'm more thirsty than ever these days, I like to squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice to switch it up, plus the enzymes are good for digestive reasons.
And go swimming whenever possible! Just make sure to wear a cute sunhat and sunscreen to protect from the reflective rays off the water and rinse off right after you get out! You don't want that chlorine to soak in more then it already has! Yuck!

15 Weeks-size of an orange

With the start of the Olympic games, we begin our second week of the second trimester.

We spent the last several days picking every last peach from our tree and making the SWEETEST peach preserve for family, friends, and our neighbors. We're excited for next year's harvest when baby can try homemade peach purée for the first time, right from the backyard. Other than that, we're preparing ourselves for the next several months of babies development-next ultrasound scan will be at 20 weeks. At this appointment we'll confirm the baby's gender! We can't wait and Anne-Marie is patiently waiting to make her first baby purchase.

At this stage of development we know the baby can begin to sense light, taste buds are beginning to appear and shortly he/she will be able to hear our cheers for our Olympic contenders. It's very exciting to talk about our future child and the possibilities of them becoming an Olympian-hey you never know! Could SHE be a volleyball player? Will HE be a swimmer? The possibilities are endless and our story has just begun.
